Sustainable and ethical
Fur Caravan creates the finest quality clothing ranges using only the most luxurious materials. Whether wild or farmed, all hand-selected furs are sourced in accordance with animal welfare associations.
Our coats are handcrafted and unique
Each fur coat is skillfully manufactured by hand in the Fur Caravan workshop and accompanied by a fur provenance certificate.
Collaborating with ethically-sustainable European farms and animal welfare associations, we work with materials such as mink, Russian sable, chinchilla, Canadian lynx and fox furs, Loro Piana cashmere and wool to create coats in a wide variety of patterns, styles and colors.
Each coat is truly unique, and combines the elegance and beauty of the materials with practical features. Our goal is to use the finest natural furs and materials to create exclusive luxury fur coats and jackets.
In addition to the latest avant-garde, Fur Caravan real fur clothing collections demonstrate timeless elegance. Both women’s and men’s fur coats can be made-to-measure.
Our inspiration
The story of "The Great Fur Caravan" publish by Vogue in 1966 was an editorial dedicated to the beauty of fur coats. Vogue did something extraordinary: a team travelled to Japan in the middle of winter to shoot one of the most epic fashion stories of all times.
"The Great Fur Caravan. A Fashion Adventure Starring the Girl in the Fabulous Furs Photographed for Vogue in the Strange Secret Snow Country of Japan…" took up 26 pages in the October 1966 issue.
We were so inspired by this story that we decided to name the company Fur Caravan after it. Likewise, Fur Caravan is dedicated to beautiful women and men who are confident in their individuality, adventurous souls with fire in their eyes, and the strong, courageous companions who win their hearts.
The Vogue editorial
While this feature is often credited to Diana Vreeland, the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief at the time, the editor was actually Polly Mellen and it was one of her first assignments for Vogue. She set off on a five-week trip to Japan with supermodel Veruschka and legendary photographer Richard Avedon.
It was dreamy and divine, the type of travel story that Vreeland liked to entertain Vogue readers with. “The eye has to travel” she was famous for saying. The story is rumored to have cost 1 million dollars, equal to 7 million today. But that’s how legends are made.
This luxury fur story struck us with its accuracy in the perception of beauty and style. 50 years have passed since, but these images still express sensuality, vitality and glamour, which reflect our vision of the world, and of fashion.
