The more time a fur coat spends in cold storage, the better. 

When temperature gets colder, the less molecular activity and the slower the biodegradation process. Colder temperatures slow down the evaporation of the necessary oils in your fur garments that keep them soft and pliable. Once the oils are depleted from fur or leather, those can tear as easily as tissue paper.
